WizHosting ahora provee soporte Ruby-On-Rails en sus servidores, a continuación le proveemos un rápido tutorial sobre cómo hacer correr su aplicación Rails.

1. En primer lugar, debe tener acceso por SSH a su cuenta. Este acceso debe ser solicitado
expresamente a nuestros operadores (dicho servicio adicional no tiene sin costo). Requerirá tambien una aplicación cliente de SSH, como ser PuTTY, la misma se provee en nuestra sección de descarga de aplicaciones útiles: http://soporte.wizhosting.com/ sección "descargas"

2. Ahora, conéctese a su cuenta por SSH, y diríjase a la raiz de su cuenta:

Comando:

cd ~


3. Si aún no subió los archivos de su aplicación Rails, puede crear una carpeta por FTP en la raiz de su cuenta para el nombre de la aplicación, y subir dentro de esa carpeta todos los archivos de su proyecto (app, public, config, etc).

Nota: Subimos los archivos en la raiz, y no dentro de la carpeta "public_html", ya que no queremos que el contenido pueda ser accedido por cualquiera desde la web, especialmente los archivos de configuración.


4. A continuación, cree/actualize su aplicación Rails con el comando:

rails nombre_de_su_aplicacion
(la carpeta que creó, dónde almaceno sus archivos)


5. Ahora, necesita crear un link simbólico a la carpeta "public" de su apliación, esto hara la aplicación accesible por web:

Comando:

ln -s ~/nombre_de_su_aplicacion/public ~/public_html/nombre_corto_para_su_aplicacion

(utilizamos un nombre corto, dado que puede dar problemas que el directorio se llame igual que la aplicación)


6-a) Ahora ud. debe ser capaz de acceder por web a su aplicación utilizando la url:

http://www.sudominio.com/nombre_corto_para_su_aplicacion/


6-b) Si desea que su apicación Rails sea accesible en la raiz de su dominio:

http://www.sudominio.com/

...en lugar de utilizando un directorio:

http://www.sudominio.com/nombre_corto_para_su_aplicacion/

...puede hacer lo siguiente:

Comandos:

Creamos un backup de la carpeta public_html actual:

mv public_html public_html_back

y a continuación:

ln -s ~/nombre_de_su_aplicacione/public ~/public_html
